I cannot connect to speakers or headphones using NFC

    Try these methods one after the other. Verify after each method whether the problem was solved, before trying the next one.

    • On the Xperia™ device, make sure NFC is turned on.
    • Make sure the screen of the Xperia™ device is unlocked and active.
    • If you are charging the Xperia™ device, remove the charger from the device.
    • Make sure the camera on the Xperia™ device is turned off.
    • If you are charging the speaker or the headphones with which you are trying to connect, remove the charger.
    • If the Xperia™ device does not vibrate when you touch the two devices, turn off NFC and then turn it on again. Move the Xperia™ device close to the NFC mark (generally indicated by an "N") on the speaker or the headphones.
    • If the Xperia™ device is in a case or cover, remove it so that no objects obstruct the device from making clear contact with the NFC area of the other device.
    • Make sure that your Xperia™ device isn’t already connected to another NFC compatible device. If so, disconnect them, and try to connect to the other device again.
    • Depending on the Xperia™ device you are using, the NFC signal strength may not be strong enough to establish a connection between the two devices with just one touch. Keep the NFC area of the speaker or headphones close to the NFC area of the Xperia™ device until the Xperia™ device vibrates.
    • In some cases, NFC sensitivity may not be strong enough to connect using NFC. If so, use Bluetooth® technology instead of NFC to connect the devices.

    Turning on NCF on your Xperia™ device

    Android™ 8.0

    To turn on NFC on your Xperia™ device

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > Device connection.
    3. Drag the slider beside NFC to the right.

    Android 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, 7.1 or 7.1.1

    To turn on NFC on your Xperia™ device

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > More.
    3. Drag the slider beside NFC to the right.

    Android 4.4

    To turn on NFC on your Xperia™ device

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > More ....
    3. Mark the NFC checkbox.

    Android 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3

    To turn on NFC on your Xperia™ device

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > More ... > NFC.
    3. Mark the NFC checkbox.
