What is Clear Image Zoom function?

Clear Image Zoom is a function that allows you to enlarge the still image with close to the original image quality. The camera first zooms optically to the maximum optical magnification, then employs Clear Image Zoom technology to further enlarge the image to additional 2x, producing sharp, clear images despite the increased zoom ratio.

Also, Clear Image Zoom operates in combination with Smart zoom. Therefore, the image size and the zoom scaling are different.

When Clear Image Zoom is used, Clear Image Zoom icon is displayed on the LCD screen.

If you use a zoom lens, we recommend that you fully zoom in on an image using the zooming ring first, and then use the Zoom feature of the camera if you need further zooming.

Note: Face Detection function does not operate in the range of Clear Image Zoom.

Clear Image Zoom function does not operate in the following situations:

• In movie mode
• In Sweep Panorama mode
• When the Smile Shutter function is activated.
• When Drive Mode is set to Cont. Shooting, Spd Priority Cont. or Bracket: Cont..
• When Quality is set to RAW or RAW & JPEG.
