What is Fast Startup and how can I configure it in Windows 8?

Fast startup is a setting that helps your computer starts up faster after shutdown. Windows does this by saving system info to a file upon shutdown. When you start your computer again, Windows uses that system info to resume your computer instead of restarting it.

    1. Launch Charms by placing the cursor to the top right hand or bottom left hand corner on the desktop,
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Control Panel.

    4. Select System and Security.

    5. Select Power Options.

    6. Select Choose what the power buttons do.

    7. Confirm that there is a checkmark next to Turn on fast startup (recommended). Place a checkmark in this field if it is uncheck and select Save changes.
