I connected a wired headset to Xperia, but I can't hear any sound from the headset.

Solution/ Information 

Xperia does not support a headset with a 5-pole plug. 

Please use a 4-pole (*) or 3-pole headset with a diameter of 3.5 mm. 

Note: For 4-pole plugs, use products that comply with CTIA standards. Please check the instruction manual of the headsets to see if it conforms to the CTIA standard.
