What to do when Windows security alert displays after installing Service Pack (SP2) in Windows XP?

After installing Service Pack(SP2) in Windows XP, the following Windows Security Alert message may appear.

    Message:
Your computer might be at risk.
****for Windows might be out of date.
Click this balloon to fix the problem.

Note:**** is the name of users' antivirus software.

Some antivirus software may display virus protection state in Security Center. If not, please contact the antivirus software manufacture.

If users need to update the antivirus software, please run the updating program of the antivirus software Norton AntiVirus which is pre-installed on the VAIO notebook or the antivirus software users have installed.

If the message still appears even after users have updated the antivirus software to the latest version, please follow the steps below to close it.

    Note:
Even after users have run Live Update of Norton AntiVirus and updated it to the latest version, Windows Security Alert still displays whenever Windows starts.
It is because the Security Center starts before Norton AntiVirus. If the alert no longer displays after starting Windows, it means the anti-virus software runs properly.
If users set to hide the alert, then users cannot check virus protection state of the antivirus software in Security Center.
Please manually update the antivirus software.
    1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    2. Click Security Center.

    3. Click Virus Protection, and then click Recommendations

    4. Select  I have an antivirus program that I'll monitor myself, and then click OK.

    5. Check that NOT MONITORED appears in Virus Protection, and then click ×(Close) to exit Security Center.
