What to do if the mouse does not work properly?

    • The mouse attached to VAIO cannot work properly?

    Operations of solutions vary with different usage of the mouse.

    Check whether the mouse that is compatible with VAIO.
    Re-connect the mouse with the computer.

    Re-connect the mouse with the computer.

    Mechanical mouse

    The mouse cannot work properly when there is dirt on the ball at the bottom or on the bearing inside the mouse.
    Please refer to the steps below to clean the mouse.
    1. End Windows and cut off the power of the computer.

    2. Unplug the power cord out of the outlet.

    3. Remove the bottom cover of the mouse according to the arrow directions.

    4. Take out the ball, and clean off any dirt or dust with a cloth. Clean dust around the bearing with a swab.

    5. Put the ball back in and place the bottom cover back to the mouse.



    Optical mouse

    The mouse cannot work properly when there is dirt at the bottom of the mouse.
    Please refer to the steps below to clean the mouse.
    1. End Windows and cut off the power of the computer.

    2. Unplug the power cord out of the outlet.

    3. Clean the dirt and dust at the bottom of the mouse with a dry cloth.


    Check whether it is an optical mouse.

    The optical mouse cannot work properly on the following objects.
    • Transparent materials such as glass
    • Reflective materials such as glossy resin and mirrors
    • Prints that with web pictures and materials on which there are same pictures such as photos on magazines and newspapers
    • objects that have clear stripes and pictures
    Please replace to lusterless printing paper or a mouse pad specialized for optical mouse to avoid the symptom.

    Check whether the mouse is connected with the computer via USB.

    Please confirm if the mouse can work properly when insert it into other USB interfaces.
    ※Ensure that the USB hub is removed when the mouse is inserted into the computer.

    Restore to the default setting of BIOS.

    • Click Pointer Options option, and then change the motion speed of the pointer with the slider in Select a pointer speed of the Motion bar.

    • Check Button configuration.
    • Check Double-click speed.
    • Check ClickLock.
    • Check Pointer speed.
    • Check Button configuration.

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Mouse in Hardware and Sound.

    • Click Buttons option in the Mouse Properties window, and then check Switch primary and secondary buttons in the Button configuration bar.


    • Check Double-click speed.

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Mouse in Hardware and Sound.

    • Click Buttons option in the Mouse Properties window, and then change the double-click speed with the slider in the Speed of the Double-click speed bar.


    • Click Lock.

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Mouse in Hardware and Sound.

    • Click Buttons option in the Mouse Properties window, and then check Turn on ClickLock in the ClickLock bar.


    • Check Pointer speed.

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

    • Click Mouse in Hardware and Sound.

    • Click Pointer Options option in the Mouse Properties window, and then change the motion speed of the pointer with the slider in Select a pointer speed of the Motion bar.





    Check if the driver of the mouse is the latest version.

    Please check that the driver of the mouse is the latest version.




    Install and update the driver of the mouse.

    Maybe it is because the driver of the mouse cannot work properly that the mouse cannot work at all.
